NORMAN, OK, – KSA’s Aviation Services Group is proud to announce the promotion of Joe Sober, P.E., to Regional Manager. Joe was hired by KSA in November 2016 to establish KSA’s local Oklahoma office and build upon KSA’s growing aviation engineering and planning practice. Joe has spent his entire career as a consulting engineer in Oklahoma and will continue to be an ambassador for aviation and an active member of the Oklahoma aviation community.
“Joe has taken a critical leadership role regarding our projects in the Oklahoma region,” said Craig Phipps, P.E., Vice President, and Director of Aviation Services at KSA. “He’s been instrumental in securing new projects at Max Westheimer Airport, Pauls Valley Municipal Airport, Broken Bow Airport, and Chandler Regional Airport. He has shown a steadfast determination and even-keeled temperament. Joe was instrumental in KSA winning the on-call contract at Max Westheimer. The thing that’s probably most impressive about Joe is his commitment to aviation in Oklahoma. He has become a partner to local airport stakeholders and works to create positive changes to the local aviation environment.”
In addition to managing projects and business development efforts in the Oklahoma area, Joe will also be involved in staffing KSA’s Norman office. As a new member of KSA’s Regional Manager Leadership group, Joe will help to oversee combined staff in Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, and Louisiana.
Joe’s success in the aviation industry can be attributed to his rock-solid work ethic. “If it’s worth me pursuing, it’s worth me giving my best effort and focus,” Joe said, humbly. Born in Woodward, Oklahoma, Joe was taught to work hard and stand by his word. He decided to become a civil engineer because of how intimately the field impacts quality of life – in ways people often take for granted. Joe is the kind of engineer that truly listens to the needs of his clients, then works to find solutions that will meet their needs without sacrificing good design principles. He’s an innate leader who is passionate about motivating and uplifting the people around him, personally and professionally.
“KSA has made a tremendous commitment to aviation in Oklahoma,” Craig continued. “Bringing Joe aboard was a major piece in advancing our commitment. KSA’s plan is to continue to hire capable engineering and planning professionals for our Oklahoma office to support our existing clients and provide additional capacity for future clients. Throughout our 40-year history, KSA has been very successful at starting new offices, committing resources to those offices, and providing exceptional service to allow those offices to grow into a fully functioning engineering and planning production center. The success of our aviation group has provided opportunities for our other service groups, such as our municipal and development services, to expand geographically as well.”
Joe exemplifies engineering excellence at KSA and highlights our strategic effort to attract and develop exceptional talent.
