Parking Lot & Baseball Field Relocation

Poteet Independent School District hired KSA to design a new baseball field, sports plaza, and parking lot for the high school, middle school, and elementary campus complex.  The goal of the project was to provide the I.S.D. a first-class sports facility with the greatest cost efficiency possible since the bond funding available needed to stretch across multiple campus projects.  KSA’s engineers took advantage of the site topography by designing stadium-like seating for the baseball field which minimized the fill necessary for a generally level playing field.  The baseball field was also sited to integrate with the existing sports facilities, ticketing, and concessions buildings.

A secondary project to this contract was the design of a new parking lot for the Poteet Elementary School.  The recently expanded school had a critical need for more parking and better organized parent pick-up and drop-off location.  KSA designed a new parking lot with sufficient spaces and a new double-aisle pick-up and drop-off drive.  The parking lot and driveway layout was purposefully designed to be flexible with various vehicle gates strategically located so the I.S.D. could form queues based on demand.
