The project involved drafting a Technical Memo, to NMED Standards, to evaluate the existing conditions, the available options and to provide recommendations to upgrade the system. Our team assembled the required information on the existing facilities and the need for the project. Their system was for the most part, operating beyond its intended life. Several meters were found to be over 50 years old, likely under-reporting household consumption.

After several work sessions with the Mayor, Council, and Utility Department Staff, the Village opted to upgrade to an AMR (Automatic Meter Reading) system, and replace 425 residential and commercial units. KSA Assisted in putting together Construction Documents to replace all meters with nutating disk units, with new AMR encoder and transmitter units. It is a ‘drive-by’ system, and a truck mounted receiver and laptop record the readings with a quick pass at posted speed limits. Through the EPA’s Federal Bidding process, the Village selected a Contractor that supplied Mueller products for the metering and AMR hardware and software.
